Hello to all of you
I am a lucky guy I am deep in good amplifiers Bryston , Simaudio , Myryad . Recently I swapped out my B60 integrated in favour of my Aragon/Celeste combo and I thought I might share some thoughts with you . The Bryston is extremely compact unit only about 2 inches tall with feet I mentiion this for one reason the B60R sounds large for a unit such meek size and even the Bryston own spec sheet confirms that the rated 60wpc rating is ultra conservative as my unit is 71rms a side from the supplied spec sheet for my actual B60 . Now on to my observations about my 18K/W4070SE combo , on published specs the Celeste doesn't appear to be alot more power than the B60 60wpc vs 85wpc , and we know the Bryston is 71rms a side . The Aragon 18K/Celeste combo sounds like a ridiculous amount more power ! my goodness it is almost freaky . I suspect being another Canadian amplifier that the spec sheet claims of 85rms a side is rather conservative as well , but mostly the W4070SE has 6dB rated headroom might have something to do with it . Another night and day difference is the amount of heat generated during use , the Bryston can get fairly toasty not scarey but damn warm . In complete constrast the Aragon/Celeste run mind bogglingly (if that is a word) cool as a cucumber , the other night I ran the system loud for a few hours non stop , Peter Green , David Bowie , Thievery Corporation , Pat Metheny , Elbow , Elton John n Leon Russel , all these cds are well recorded and full of dynamics . The W4070SE was barely I mean barely warm , the Aragon actually felt cool not even a hint of warmth to the unit . Loud doesn't mean dirt if it doesnt sound good and this combo sounds droooling awesome ! fast , detailed , wide , deep , agile , dynamic ! . Too much of a good thing ? well it will tell you how bad most recordings really are but otherwise than that I love this combo . Truly Happy
